Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed with him the political, military, and humanitarian situation in Ukraine, German Federal Government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit said on Monday.
The spokesperson added, in a press statement, that the Ukrainian president thanked the German federal government for the military support, especially to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense and artillery.
Scholz reaffirmed the continuous and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russia's aggression.
He announced that Germany will continue its support for Ukraine, including in the military field, in close coordination with European and international partners.
The chancellor and the Zelenskyy called for extending the grain agreement under the auspices of the United Nations beyond July 17, which would help improve the global food situation.
The two sides agreed to continue constructive exchanges between them, also with the aim of global support for a peaceful solution and maintaining close contact.
