German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for a ceasefire in Gaza, describing it as the only way to secure the release of all hostages held by Hamas.
In a post on his personal page on the social media platform X, the German Chancellor wrote, "The news of the six hostages found dead in Gaza fills us with sadness and anger."
He added, "At the same time, it has become clear that a ceasefire—which would pave the way for the release of all hostages held by Hamas—must now be the top priority," and "other considerations should be set aside."
The Israeli occupation army had announced the discovery of the bodies of six hostages held by Hamas, who were previously believed to be alive.
Army spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated in a press conference that "the initial assessment indicates that the six hostages, whose bodies were recovered, were killed by Hamas shortly before the arrival of the forces."
