A new scandal for the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood at Tahrir Square where the banned group incited one of its members, named Mohamed Hosni, to set himself on fire on Thursday for the purpose of provoking the public opinion in Egypt.
The Brotherhood’s failed attempt comes in the context of the group's continuous calls to provoke citizens and spread a state of frustration and despair among Egyptians.
Hosni’s family, affiliated with the Brotherhood, exposed reasons and motives behind the burning incident that took place at Tahrir Square, according to local media reports.
The Brotherhood and its false media continue to exploit the events in order to incite violence against the government, and to create a state of tension and chaos.
The terrorist group sought to portray Hosni as a new Bouazizi who set himself on fire in Tunisia, the incident that sparked the 2010 revolution.
Hosni poured petrol on himself, while another man accompanied him filmed a scene in which he criticized the Egyptian government in Tahrir Square, the center of the revolution that toppled former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
But shortly after he tried to set himself on fire, security forces and passersby stopped him and extinguished the first flames, according to AFP.
The man suffered minor burns and was taken to a Cairo hospital.
A security official, who requested anonymity, told AFP that Hosni was recently released on criminal charges, without giving further details. He accused the Muslim Brotherhood of exploiting Hosni’s mental disorder.
