The Sawiris Cultural Awards ceremony celebrated a wide range of Egyptian writers and creators, honoring outstanding achievements in literature, children’s writing, criticism, theater and screenwriting. Organized by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, the annual awards are among Egypt’s most prestigious cultural honors.

In the Young Writers – Novel category, the first prize was awarded to “Sawaken Al-Oula” by Walid Makki, published by Dar Al-Ain, while the second prize went to “Portrait of Maryam” by Maryam Al-Ajami, issued by the General Egyptian Book Organization. In the Short Story Collection category for young writers, the first prize was withheld, and the second prize was awarded to “Tame Mice” by Nesma Ouda, published by Dar Al-Muharrir.

For Children’s Literature (under 12), first prize went to “Lara the Mouse and Her Neighbors” by Reham Shendi, illustrated by Basma Hossam, while second prize was awarded to “When Laughter Disappeared from the World” by Ahmed El-Fakharany, illustrated by Hiam Safwat.

The Literary Criticism and Narratology Award was shared by “Al-Khawagaya” by Fimony Okasha and “The Tent of Criticism and Poetry” by Mohamed Abdel-Baset Eid.

In Theater, first prize went to “Refugee No. 1” by Khaled Raslan, and second prize to “Flomaster Marka” by Hany Mehran.

The Screenwriting Award (Senior Writers) was given to the film script “The Distant Land” by Nadine Salib and Abdallah El-Ghaly, while the Young Writers Screenwriting Award went to “A Young Man in a Dilemma” by Ahmed Sobhy and Brihan Moussa.

For Senior Writers, the Best Novel award was presented to “Ages of Daniel in the City of Threads” by Ahmed Abdel Latif, and Best Short Story Collection to “The Sons of the Gazelle” by Alfat Atef.

The foundation and the awards’ board of trustees congratulated all winners, reaffirming their commitment to supporting creativity and freedom of expression in Egypt’s cultural scene.
