Saudi FM, Blinken discuss situation in region

In a phone call, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken the developments taking place in the region.

Dring the call he received from Blinken, Minister Bin Farhan discussed “the developments taking place in the region, the importance of reducing the escalation, and reaching a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The agency indicated that the call "tackled the latest developments in the situation in Sudan."

In turn, the US State Department said in a statement that Blinken “stressed to his Saudi counterpart the importance of a ceasefire in Gaza and preventing the escalation or spread of the conflict.”

According to the statement, Bin Farhan and Blinken "stressed that the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces should participate in the ceasefire talks planned for August, reach an agreement to end the conflict, and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need."
