On Tuesday, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohamed bin Salman had a phone discussion with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom about the developments in Ukraine.
Both officials examined the possible means of solving the crises on the regional and international levels.
In the same context, the Saudi Crown Prince, and the UK's Prime Minister also reviewed the aspects of the mutual cooperation between both countries and the ways of enhancing them.
On Wednesday, the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in the United Arab Emirates to start round of talks with the leaders of UAE and Saudi Arabia, Sky News reported.
The core of the talks will be around gas and oil as Europe decided to stop counting on the Russian oil and gas after the war in Ukraine.
Johnson will meet the Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed on the first day of the visit. Next, he will head to Riyadh to have talks with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman.
The UK targets boosting the mutual relationships with the Gulf states to convince them to increase their gas and oil productions.
Johnson told local broadcasters in Abu Dhabi: “When we look at the dependency the West in particular has built up on Putin’s hydrocarbons, on Putin’s oil and gas, we can see what a mistake that was because he’s been able to blackmail the West and hold western economies to ransom – we need independence.”
The Prime Minister revealed that the government would frame a new energy strategy “next week” for making a “massive jump forward on renewables, more nuclear, using our own hydrocarbons more effectively.”
