Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet has approved an initiative to design and build the first joint Saudi-Egyptian satellite, according to a statement issued after its session in Jeddah.

The meeting was chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The approval marks a new step in scientific and technological cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, with the planned satellite expected to reflect the growing partnership between the two countries in advanced industries and space-related fields.

During the session, the Cabinet reviewed the items on its agenda, including matters studied in cooperation with the Shura Council. It also examined recommendations submitted by the Council of Political and Security Affairs, the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, the Cabinet’s General Committee and the Bureau of Experts.

The Cabinet also followed regional and international developments, renewing Saudi Arabia’s firm position in support of efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region and the world.

It also reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to responding to humanitarian appeals and providing assistance to those in need and people affected by crises around the world.

Saudi Minister of Media Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari said the Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s development progress and the goals achieved during the past period at the national level.

He added that Saudi Arabia has continued to advance in international indicators and rankings, alongside the continued achievements of Saudi Vision 2030 and its programmes across various fields.
