Saudi Arabia welcomed, on Friday, the announcement of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, commending the United States (US) for mediating the deal, according to a statement issued by Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In its statement, the ministry expressed the Kingdom’s hope that the agreement would mark the beginning of a new phase of understanding, cooperation, and the consolidation of security and stability between Armenia and Azerbaijan, serving the interests of both peoples and the Caucasus region.
Earlier on Friday, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a peace treaty and economic agreements at the White House, following decades of conflict between the two nations.
