The first batch of 2019 Hajj pilgrims is set to arrive at Saudi Arabia’s King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdul Aziz International Airport, Madinah on early Thursday.

Meanwhile, the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia has finished preparations for receiving pilgrims from all over the world, pointing out that it will provide them with the highest quality of services.

This comes in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his Crown Prince to facilitate the arrival procedures of pilgrims at the two airports and provide them with all needed services.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in May 2019 launched a new interactive online portal.

The website has been redesigned to provide easy and quick access to all of the ministry’s services and is part of ongoing efforts to keep pace with the digital transformation taking place in government departments.

 Pilgrimage “Hajj”

Every year, millions of Muslims gather in Mecca, Saudi Arabia for the annual pilgrimage, called Hajj.

Arriving from every corner of the globe, pilgrims of all nationalities, ages, and colors come together for the largest religious gathering in the world.

It is one of the five "pillars of Islam and a duty upon every Muslim adult who is financially and physically able to make the journey.

Every Muslim, male or female, strives to make the trip at least once in a lifetime.

The pilgrimage occurs during the last month of the Islamic year, called "Dhul-Hijjah" (i.e. "The Month of Hajj").

The pilgrimage rites occur during a 5-day period, between the 8th - 12th days of this lunar month. The event is also marked by the Islamic holiday, Eid al-Adha, which falls on the 10th day of the lunar month.
