Saudi Arabia is planning to host talks in August on the subject of Ukraine, inviting Western states, Ukraine, and major developing countries, including India and Brazil.
The meeting will be held in Jeddah on August 5 and 6 and will bring together senior officials from up to 30 countries, including Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Chile, and Zambia, according to diplomats who are involved in the discussions.
The aim of the talks, which exclude Russia, is to secure international support for peace terms that favor Ukraine and resolve the ongoing conflict.
The attendance of the invited countries is not yet confirmed, but participants from a similar round of talks held in Copenhagen in June are expected to attend.
The US national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, is expected to attend, along with representatives from Britain, South Africa, Poland, and the EU.
