Government data showed on Wednesday that the consumer price index (CPI) in Saudi Arabia rose 0.3% in August, year-on-year and 0.1% on a monthly basis.
Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Statistics said that CPI recorded 0.4% rise in July, 6.2% in June, last month affected by the tripling of Value Added Tax (VAT) in July 2020.
August data showed that the higher CPI was mainly due to higher prices in the transportation sector, which rose by 6.5%, and food and beverage prices by 1.9%.
