Saudi Arabia .. Final Judgments Issued in Khashoggi Case

The official spokesman for the Saudi Public Prosecution announced, on Monday, that final judgments have been passed against those accused of killing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The spokesman affirmed that the Criminal Court in Riyadh issued rulings against 8 convicted persons, and acquired final status, according to Article 210 of the Criminal Procedure Law, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The spokesman explained that "these provisions, according to their wording, after the termination of the right of legal waiver to the relatives of the murder victim, impose imprisonment for periods totaling 124 years, each convicted person extending his sentence according to the criminal act issued by him."

The sentences of 20 years imprisonment imposed on 5 of the convicts against each of them, and 3 of the convicts with sentences of 10 years imprisonment for one of them, and 7 years for two of them.

The spokesman added that "these provisions have become final and enforceable, according to Article 212 of the Law of Criminal Procedure."

He emphasized that "upon the issuance of these final judgments, the criminal lawsuit, both public and private, shall lapse with it, in accordance with Articles 22 and 23 of the Code of Criminal Procedure."
