Antiquities Ministry to Announce New Discovery in Saqqara

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled Al-Anani and Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities on Sunday inspected the excavation works of the Egyptian archaeological mission working in the Saqqara antiquities area.

The Works have led to the discovery of a deep burial well with more than 13 human coffins closed for more than 2,500 years.

The well is about 11 meters long, as they found inside it a colorful wooden coffins stacked on top of each other.

Al-Anani was keen to go to the bottom of the well with Dr.Waziri to inspect the discovery as they prepare for announcing it soon in a press conference in the Saqqara antiquities area.

He also thanked workers in the site as they resume their jobs in difficult conditions while adhering to the precautionary measures.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities will carry out a promotional campaign on social media during the upcoming period to promote for this discovery .
