Sanofi Egypt has signed a partnership agreement with Hakeema to provide integrated care and educational application for diabetics at home.

The partnership aims to encourage using modern high-tech means to reduce the burden and complications of diabetes as well as to support the patient.

It also aims to reduce the social and economic burden, especially at the present time, as the coronavirus virus represents a double challenge for diabetic patients.

An experimental "7Keema" (Hakeema) application was launched online a month ago. Hakeema is the first application of its kind that meets the needs of diabetic patients.

About 422 million people across the globe have diabetes, particularly, in low-and middle-income countries; 1.6 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

Diabetes is a chronic, metabolic disease characterized by elevated levels of blood glucose or blood sugar, which leads over time to serious damage to the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves.

The most common is type 2 diabetes, usually in adults, occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin or does not make enough insulin. Type 2 diabetes has risen dramatically in the past three decades.

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin by itself.
