Samsung Electronics on Friday launched its new triple-foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Tri Fold, in South Korea, drawing long queues of customers outside retail stores nationwide.
Dozens of consumers lined up in front of 20 flagship Samsung stores across the country to purchase the device, reflecting strong public interest in what is one of the thinnest foldable models the company has produced to date, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
The new handset measures 12.9 millimeters when folded and just 3.9 millimeters when fully opened.
It features a 6.5-inch cover display, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, allowing users to adjust the device for various use scenarios, the company said. Samsung also announced a 50 percent discount on screen repairs, although the smartphone will not be eligible for the Samsung Care Plus warranty program.
Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy Z Tri Fold will also be released in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United States, but a detailed rollout schedule has yet to be announced.
