Samsung Electronics became the world's leading supplier of automotive memory chips in 2025, overtaking US chipmaker Micron Technology.
According to a report by S&P Global Mobility, Samsung's share of the global automotive memory chip market rose to 40% last year, up from 35% in 2024. Over the same period, Micron's market share fell to 36% from 40%.
Industry analysts said Samsung benefited from growing demand for advanced memory chips as automakers expand the use of autonomous driving technologies and increasingly sophisticated in-vehicle infotainment systems.
The trend highlights the rising importance of high-performance semiconductors in the global automotive industry as vehicles become more connected and software-driven.
