Prominent TV presenter Amr Ellithy hosted on Saturday veteran Egyptian actor, Samir Sabry, on his program “Wahed Min el Nas”, broadcasted on “Al Hayat” TV channel.
Sabry discussed some topics regarding several giants of the golden age such as Abdel Halim Hafez, Shadia, and Soad Hosny.
Real Reason for Shadia's Retirement
The veteran actor revealed the real reason behind the retirement of iconic actress Shadia.
He stated that the late star had wished to be a mother, but she lost her fetus in 3 pregnancy attempts, and had to rest in bed for 7 months. "That is why she considered her younger brother Taher as her son, and when he died, she decided to step away from acting," he said.
Sabry added that the doctors told her that she had breast cancer and she was going to eradicate it. She went to the USA and the doctors told her that she did not have breast cancer. During this period, she bonded with God and decided to retire.
Soad Hosny Death
On another topic, Sabry revealed that he saw the marriage certificate of Mahmoud al-Sharif and Umm Kulthum, but he did not see the certificate of Halim’s and Hosny’s, stressing that there was a great and deep love story between the pair that lasted 3 years.
Regarding the mystery behind Cinderella’s death, Sabry revealed that Hosny’s cause of death was not suicide but by falling from the balcony of her home in London.
He noted that the report of the British and Egyptian forensic doctors stated that there were no fractures in the actress’s body.
Sabry noted that this is an indication that she did not fall from the balcony, as was commonly known and circulated between a wide range of the public.
He stated that Hosny could have been killed after she intervened in a quarrel with someone who came to get money from the apartment's owner, and after she died, her body was left in the street.
Sabry pointed out that he reported in his conducted investigation to solve the mystery of her death, that he knew the owner of the London apartment, and knew that she was doing drugs.
“When I asked her about her last meeting with Souad Hosny, her responses were conflicting,” he noted.

In December 2016, Ganjah Abdel Moneim, the sister of the late actress, had previously accused the late former Egyptian Minister of Information, Safwat El-Sherif, of killing the Cinderella.
Abdel Moneim said in an interview on “Dream” TV channel that El-Sherif killed her sister, without providing any evidence to her claims, at the time.
On June 21, 2001, it was announced that Hosny was killed after falling from the balcony of an apartment on the sixth floor of the Stuart Tower building, in London.
Her death sparked a controversy that has not been subsided yet, as there are doubts about her being murder and not her suicide as was previously mentioned by the British police back then.
