Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman congratulated US President Donald Trump on the successful military operation which resulted in the death of Daesh terrorist organization leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
In a phone call, Salman described the operation as a historic step in the war against terrorism, extremism, and hatred.
On his part, Trump praised the distinguished cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the US in the counter-terrorism field.
It is worthy to note that, the American president announced on Sunday the death of al-Baghdadi after a successful military raid by US special forces in northwest Syria.
Al-Baghdadi ignited a suicide belt, killing himself, his two wives and 3 children.
Moreover, at least two ISIS militants were captured and eleven children were taken into custody by U.S. troops.
the initial planning for the raid began last summer, as a commando unit of the Army Delta force began to develop training plans for a covert mission to kill or capture the ISIS leader, with enormous obstacles anticipated.
His location was deep inside al-Qaeda-controlled territory. The skies over this area are also under the control of Syria and Russia.
The US leadership canceled the operation at least two times at the last minute, according to New York Times newspaper.
