CAIRO, Jan. 24 (SEE) - Two days ago, social
media users, especially football fans worldwide, noticed the sudden
deactivation of Egyptian Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah’s Twitter, Instagram and
Facebook accounts.
The deactivation came after Salah posted a very
cryptic tweet which got everyone following him, really confused.
Speculations started circulating all social
media platforms, as many users came up with reasons why the international
player would want to quit social media all of a sudden.
One of the theories pointed out that his feud
with the Egyptian Football Association might have been resumed for unknown
reasons.
Another scenario is that Salah might move to
another football club, leaving the Liverpool as part of the current ongoing
January transfer window.
A third scenario, which seems more likely, is
related to marketing issues.
A few hours ago, DHL Express Egypt Twitter
account posted a strange tweet, saying that "We reached Salah and we can
connect you with." No further details were posted.
As a part of the marketing campaign that Salah
has succeeded in, his social media disappearance might be a shift in this campaign.
In May, 2018, DHL
Express, held a press conference in Cheshire, England, to announce its new
Middle East and North Africa exclusive partnership for globally renowned
English premiership and Egyptian National player Mohamed Salah to be its
ambassador for the region.
The partnership was
announced as collaboration with DHL Express for the regional territory of MENA.
In August, 2018, Transfermarkt
announced that Salah became one of the top 10 valuable players in the world.
Liverpool’s star Salah
ranked fourth, with a market value of €150m, equaling the 2018 World Cup winner
Kélien Mbappé, who plays with Paris Saint-Germain.
Salah was followed by Tottenham Hotspur’s striker Harry Kane and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, who came in the fifth and sixth places, respectively, with the same market value.
Salah, 26, joined Liverpool in a club-record €42m transfer deal from AS Roma last June. He managed to break several records in his debut season, which contributed to massively increasing his market value.
in last July, Salah signed a new five-year contract with the Premier League team until 2023 and doubled his wage to around £200,000 a week.
