A source in the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Saturday that the football governing body in Egypt has been told that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Galatasaray's forward Mostafa Mohamed would be out of Egypt's squad for Tokyo Olympics.

Several attempts have been made during the last period by EFA to convince both clubs to let the two players partake in the tournament, but it appeared to be failed.

"EFA received a phone call from Liverpool, telling the Egyptian Federation that Salah will not be among the Egyptian National Team squad for Tokyo Olympic."

"The same thing happened from Galatasaray, who also refused to allow Mohamed to take part in the tournament."

Egypt's Olympic team head coach Shawky Gharib is due to announce his final squad during the upcoming days as the deadline of every team to hand their squad will be on June 30.

The Pharaohs were drawn in a tough group, including Argentina, Spain, and Australia.
