Liverpool star Mohamed Salah said on Wednesday that he is very proud of equalling Steven Gerrard record in the Uefa Champions League.

His goal at the Gewiss Stadium – a clinical curling effort following a rapid breakaway from an Atalanta corner – saw him become the joint-highest European Cup goalscorer for the club.

“It’s something I’m very proud of," Salah told Liverpool official website. “But as I’ve said before, the most important thing is the team. So I’m happy to score goals to help the team to win games, that’s the most important thing.”

Asked about the Reds’ possibility of claiming the Uefa Champions League once again, Salah said: “It’s tough, I don’t want to put pressure on us.

“But I think we are doing good in the Premier League, we’re doing good in the Champions League. As Liverpool, as a team we have to fight for everything – that’s our job, that’s why we have to put pressure on ourselves."

“I’m sure we’re going to fight in each competition, in the Premier League as well. We want to win everything and hopefully we can do it.”
