Former UK Finance Minister Sajid Javid was appointed as the new Secretary of Health after the resignation of Matt Hancock, media agencies reported on Sunday.
Hancock resigned after pictures emerged of him kissing and embracing his senior aide at the Ministry of Health office in London.
The scandal began when the British newspaper, The Sun, published a video clip and pictures, showing Hancock kissing and embracing his senior aide, Gina Coladangelo.
The British Health Secretary apologized for what he had done after circulating the pictures, while a British government spokesman confirmed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson accepted his apology and had full confidence in Hancock.
"I admit that I violated the rules of social distancing in these circumstances. I have let people down and I apologize,” Hancock said in a statement.
