The SADR ambassador to Algeria said in a statement to Sputnik that the Moroccan army forces "violated the ceasefire in force since 1991 in the buffer zone in Guerguerat, despite our constant warnings that we sent to the international public opinion after Morocco started to mobilize its forces days ago."

“We are at war with Morocco, after the operations in the Guerguerat region this morning by the Moroccan army,” he added.

On Friday, the Moroccan authorities announced that they would take action against dangerous and unacceptable provocations by the "Polisario" front, as they put it, in the buffer zone of Guerguerat in the Sahara.

The Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that "After it committed itself to the greatest degree of restraint, Morocco had no choice but to assume its responsibilities in order to put an end to the state of obstruction resulting from these movements and to re-establish freedom of civil and commercial movement."
