S. Korean Ambassador Visits NMEC in Fustat

The South Korean Ambassador to Cairo Kim Yong-Hyun, and his accompanying delegation visited the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat.

The delegation was received by Ahmed Ghoneim, Managing Executive Director of the Authority of the National Museum, who introduced them to the museum, its cultural and knowledge role, and its status as an archaeological, scientific and recreational tourist destination. Ghoneim also presented the ambassador with a souvenir.

Then, Mohamed Abdel Shafi, Director of the Restoration and Conservation Center at the Museum took them on a tour inside the restoration center, and gave them a detailed explanation of it, its laboratories, and the important role it plays in preserving antiquities.

The delegation completed the visit with the escort of the chief archaeologist at the Museum Mohamed Mukhtarr, who took them on a tour inside the museum, which included the reception building, the area overlooking Lake "Ain al-Hayat", the two central exhibition halls and the royal mummies.

At the end of the visit, the ambassador expressed his admiration for the treasures he saw, which are characterized by richness and historical diversity, affirming his happiness at the museum's progress in the field of preserving, studying and restoring antiquities.

Finally, he stressed his country's keenness to provide all forms of cultural and artistic cooperation with the Museum Authority.
