The comedy-action movie is directed by Shawn Levy and written by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn. It also stars Taika Waititi, Channing Tatum, Joe Keery, Jodie Comer and others.
The plot centers around a bank teller Guy (Reynolds), who discovers one day that he is a background character in a game entitled "Free City", which will soon be taken offline.
"Free Guy" was first scheduled to be released in the United States in July 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic and the increasing restrictions, the date has been postponed along with many other 20th Century Studios' productions. Later on, the movie was rescheduled for December 2020 and then to May 2021.
