A group of Russian women working at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo chose to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan in one of Egypt’s most iconic neighborhoods—Khan El-Khalili in Old Cairo
The visit marked a new tradition for the group, blending cultural exchange with personal discovery.
Oksana Elena noted, “As soon as I arrived in Khan El-Khalili, I felt like I had gone back in time to the world of One Thousand and One Nights. The atmosphere here is magical and unique, unlike anywhere else in the world.” She confirmed it was her first visit to Egypt but hoped it would not be the last.
Yekaterina Kachieva said that she teaches Russian to Egyptians and lives in Egypt, but the atmosphere of Ramadan in the Al-Hussein and Khan El-Khalili areas is different from anywhere else in the world.
Lyudmila Vladimirovna stated that foreigners are keen to celebrate Ramadan specifically in Khan El-Khalili because it is unlike other places.
Gulnara Yarollina said, “Our visit today to Khan El-Khalili was for more than one occasion: to celebrate this holy month, International Women’s Day, and also Mother’s Day.”
Asia Abresova pointed out that Egypt is distinguished by its historical and archaeological sites, and visiting these places brings them unlimited joy.
Irina Izatova said, “I live in Cairo and often visit tourist spots, but Khan El-Khalili remains the most prominent for its historical depth and unique architecture.”
Huda Hussein, administrative officer at the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo, commented that the visit to Khan El-Khalili and celebrating all these occasions brought them happiness amid the enchanting Ramadan atmosphere in beautiful Egypt.
