Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva discussed the escalating situation between Israel and Palestine during a phone call.
In a statment, the Kremlin said that "a detailed discussion of the sharply escalated situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area took place."
The statement added that the two presidents expressed their "deep concern over the increase in the number of civilian casualties," stressing the fundamental importance of an immediate ceasefire, and the evacuation of foreign citizens from the Gaza Strip.
