Russian media outlets, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Agency for International Cooperation, have commended the recent Alumni Forum of Soviet and Russian Universities held in Cairo. The event, attended by Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ayman Ashour, and 150 participants from the Middle East and North Africa, was organized in collaboration with North Caucasus Federal University and the Egyptian Association of Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities.
The forum, dedicated to pressing issues in education and healthcare, featured two key seminars led by experts in both fields
Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for International Cooperation, described the forum as a significant step toward strengthening cooperation between Russia and the participating countries.
Russian Ambassador to Cairo, Georgy Borisenko, highlighted Russia’s long-standing commitment to preparing highly qualified professionals across various disciplines, many of whom return to their home countries to contribute to national development. He praised the participation of Egypt’s higher education minister as a testament to the growing collaboration between the two nations.
Dr. Ayman Ashour expressed pride in his academic roots, noting that his PhD from the Moscow Academy of Architecture played a pivotal role in shaping his career. He also outlined Egypt’s ambition to establish a unified BRICS university, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in achieving this vision.
Dmitry Bespalov, President of North Caucasus Federal University, lauded the strong alumni turnout and his university’s first-time involvement in organizing the forum. He expressed optimism about future partnerships with Egyptian universities and institutions across the Middle East and North Africa.
Sharif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Alumni of Russian and Soviet Universities, extended his gratitude to the Federal Agency for International Cooperation. He noted that Cairo’s selection as the forum’s venue for the second consecutive time reflects confidence in the association and Egypt’s readiness to host major international events.
Gad also underscored the potential for expanded collaboration between Egypt and Russia in education and healthcare, two fields that remain central to the forum’s objectives.
The Alumni Forum has emerged as a vital platform for fostering dialogue and strengthening ties between Russia and its global partners, paving the way for deeper cooperation in key sectors.
