Russian Passenger Plane Makes Safe Emergency Landing at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport

Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport witnessed a safe emergency landing of a Russian Ural Air Airbus A321 on Friday evening.

The airport received a report from the pilot of the plane, which was heading from Sharm El-Sheikh Airport to Yekaterinburg Airport in Russia, carrying 236 passengers, that there was a technical failure in one of the engines 10 minutes after takeoff.

The pilot requested the air traffic control tower to make an emergency landing; then the control tower informed the operations room to activate the emergency plan, followed at the airport, to take all necessary precautionary measures to deal with such emergency situations.

Coordination was made with the relevant authorities operating at the airport, and a crisis management room was immediately formed; in preparation with the mobile operations center and the presence of fire and rescue vehicles, in addition to providing all the necessary supplies to deal with emergency events.
