Russian Ministry of Defense (MOD) confirmed on Thursday that more than 2,600 refugees have returned to the capital of the Nagorno Karabakh region, Stepanakert, over the last 4 days, after a ceasefire deal signed between Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
In a press release, the ministry said, “On November 18, 2020, another 936 refugees returned to Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia."
"Since November 14, over 2,600 residents who had previously left their homes have returned to Stepanakert,” it added.
It is also stated that Russian servicemen ensured the safety of the buses transporting the refugees along the line of contact.
It is worth mentioning that, earlier this month, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia signed an agreement to end the military conflict over the disputed enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh.
It follows six weeks of fighting between Azerbaijan and ethnic Armenians.
