Russia's Defence Ministry announced that systems of the Syrian air defense downed the four missiles fired by the Israeli warplanes during an airstrike last night.
Maj. Gen. Vadim Collet, vice-president of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, said that two Israeli warplanes of F 16 made to penetrate deeply into the Lebanese airspace between 1,19-1,11 AM and fired four missiles targeted military positions located in Homos governorate in the southern part of Syria.
According to Russia Today, a Russian news website, Collet added that the four Israeli missiles were intercepted and downed by the Russian-made Buk M2E, belonging to the Syrian Air Defense Forces.
Earlier, the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria announced that the Syrian air defenses had shot down 7 out of 8 missiles during the Israeli raid on July 19.
Last Monday, Russia's Ministry of Defence, revealed that the Syrian ground air defense was able to destroy seven of eight missiles fired by Israeli jets toward positions inside the Syrian territories.
Russian Maj. GEN. Vadim Collet issued a statement on Tuesday, said that four Israeli warplanes intruded the Syrian airspace between 11,23 and 11,39 PM over the area of Tanaf, occupied by US forces.
Collet's statement went on to say that the Israeli jets fired then eight missiles but seven of them were destroyed by the Syrian air defense systems of Russian-made Pantsir S and Buk M2.
The statement pointed out that the last missile hit a center of research at Al –Safeerah town in the rural area of Aleppo, the second major city in Syria.
