The Egyptian Russian Friendship Association, in cooperation with the Russian House in Cairo, organized an art workshop to create Ramadan lanterns, bringing together Russian and Egyptian children in a festive cultural activity.

The workshop was attended by Russian children from the families of diplomats and members of the Russian community in Egypt, alongside Egyptian children. It was supervised by Egyptian visual artist Ahmed Goweiba, who expressed his happiness at organizing the Ramadan lantern workshop at the Russian cultural center for the fourth consecutive year. He noted that some Russian children from diplomats’ families look forward to participating in the workshop every year.

Goweiba explained that the children’s joy in creating the lanterns with their own hands is one of the main goals of the workshop. Special touches are added to make the lantern more personal and memorable for each child, such as placing the child’s photo on the lantern and installing a small light unit to enhance its festive appearance. Russian mothers also joined their children during the activity, creating a warm and family-friendly atmosphere.

For his part, Dr. Vadim Zaychikov, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, emphasized that such activities help strengthen communication between Russian and Egyptian children through cultural initiatives reflecting elements of both cultures, encouraging greater understanding between the two communities.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ibrahim Kamel, Chairman of the Egyptian Russian Friendship Association, said the association is keen to sponsor the Ramadan lantern workshop for the second consecutive year as part of efforts to promote cultural and human connections between Egyptians and Russians.
