In recent developments, Moscow announced on Friday that Russian forces conducted training in the northwest of the Black Sea, launching anti-ship missiles to hit a target in the sea.

According to a statement by the ministry, ships belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet launched anti-ship cruise missiles at a boat that had been designated as a target in a combat training area in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.

The ministry added that this is the same area that Moscow had identified on Thursday as having "potential military boats" headed towards Ukraine.

The move comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with Moscow accusing Kiev of mobilizing troops near the border and the Ukrainian government accusing Russia of amassing troops along the border and in Crimea. This latest training exercise by Russian forces is likely to further increase tensions in the region.
