Prymachenko, who died aged 88 in 1987, spent her whole life in a village near Ivankiv. Being one of the country's best-known painters, Prymanchenko's works have been featured on Ukraine's postage stamps.
In 1970, she was awarded Ukraine's highest cultural honor, the National Prize.
Russia launched its invasion on Ukraine by land, air and sea Thursday morning following a declaration of war by President Vladimir Putin. Thousands of citizens fled as explosions and gunfire rocked major cities, and dozens were killed, according to reports.
