Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov arrived in Guinea today, Monday, at the start of a new African tour.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, the top Russian diplomat is scheduled to meet with the country's political leadership in Conakry. Lavrov's last working visit to Guinea was in February 2013.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted in a statement that "Russian-Guinean relations are friendly, with an active political dialogue."
The statement added that since 2002, the Russian-Guinean Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Trade Cooperation has been operating.
On September 27, 2017, during a meeting between Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and Guinean President Alpha Conde, it was decided to establish a joint parliamentary committee between the two sides.
