Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, stated that evidence confirms Lebanon is witnessing a scenario nearly identical to what occurred in Gaza, characterized by the imposition of widespread occupation control and the forced displacement of the population.
According to the UN Media Center, Nebenzya strongly condemned the aggressive Israeli actions on Lebanese territory and reaffirmed his country's steadfast commitment to Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
The Russian Federation's envoy to the United Nations added that the ceasefire reached on April 17 was, unfortunately, a smoke screen for a creeping aggression against Lebanon.
Moreover, he noted that while the world was awaiting the second round of negotiations scheduled for June 2 in the U.S. capital, Israel continued to systematically expand the scope of its occupation.
The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations demanded the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, stating: "Without this, it will be impossible to reach a ceasefire."
