Russian Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Sergei Ryabkov stated on Monday that relations between Moscow and Washington are "on the verge of collapse."

During a press conference in Moscow, Ryabkov said that the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden "bet on hybrid warfare and imposed on its allies the idea of achieving a strategic defeat of Russia. As a result, Russian-American relations have reached a confrontational stage today," according to the Russian news agency TASS.

He noted that communication channels between Moscow and Washington do exist and are not suspended. However, there are currently no agreements between Russia and the United States regarding high-level contacts.

Earlier, Ryabkov emphasized that the United States must take the first step toward normalizing relations with Russia, stressing that Moscow remains open to dialogue.
