Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko participated in the congratulations on Africa Day, which is the cradle of all mankind.

He also celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of African Union, which "became a symbol of the liberation of the continent from Western colonialists."

“As it was before when the Soviet Union helped Africa in its struggle for independence and provided great economic aid, Russia today contributes to strengthening stability in this continent to achieve the goals in the field of sustainable development,” Borisenko said.

He stressed that one of the priorities in Africa is ensuring food security. “This is hampered by the West, which is trying to disrupt Russia's supply of wheat, sunflower oil, and other agricultural products to the African continent by imposing sanctions,” The ambassador added.

Borisenko pointed out that despite the restrictions, not only did food exports from Russia stop, but the volume of these supplies also increased.

He continued: "Russia is working to boost cooperation with Africa in various fields, adding that the second session of the Russian-African Summit will be held next July in St. Petersburg,"

“This event will provide an opportunity to discuss promising dealing directions,”.

“Russia is proud of its longstanding friendship with Africa and realizes that this continent not only has a long history but also has great prospects. Together, we can make a significant contribution to the ongoing process of creating a multipolar world system,” the ambassador concluded.
