The New York Times (NYT), a US daily newspaper, confirmed that Russia has not been affected negatively by Western sanctions as Russia’s foreign trade has returned to the pre-sanctions level, which raises questions about the feasibility of Western sanctions against it.

"It appears that Russia's foreign trade has largely returned to previous levels," Anna Swanson wrote in an article for the newspaper.

She added, "The Russian economy has proven to be very resilient, which raised questions about the effectiveness of Western sanctions, as countries found it difficult to reduce their dependence on Russia in energy and other basic commodities.

However, the Russian Central Bank was able to support the ruble and maintain the stability of financial markets."

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, affirmed that the West lacks the courage to admit that its "hellish" sanctions against Russia have failed miserably.

US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green also stated that Russia, which is subject to severe Western sanctions, is showing the world that neither American friendship nor the US dollar is necessary for trade and prosperity.
