The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Tuesday that its mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine have successfully facilitated a prisoner exchange involving 180 captives from both sides.
This recent success marks the fifth instance of such mediation by the UAE since the beginning of the year, underscoring the nation's strong ties and trusted intermediary status with both Russia and Ukraine.
The UAE Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the country's commitment to supporting all initiatives and efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
As part of the exchange, Russia confirmed that it had swapped 90 Ukrainian prisoners of war for 90 Russian soldiers held in Ukraine.
The agreement, brokered by the UAE, reflects the country's growing role as a key facilitator in international diplomatic efforts.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on its Telegram channel that as a result of the negotiation process, 90 Russian soldiers, who were at risk of death in captivity, have been returned from territories controlled by the Kyiv regime.
It further stated that in exchange, 90 Ukrainian armed forces prisoners of war have been handed over.
