Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that US President Donald Trump is genuinely seeking to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through political and diplomatic means, emphasizing his country's determination to achieve a "lasting peace."
According to the Russian news agency Sputnik, Lavrov stated on Thursday, during a roundtable discussion with ambassadors in Moscow addressing key international and political issues: "We insist on reaching a comprehensive agreement on a robust, lasting, and sustainable peace, with security guarantees for all parties involved. Our discussions with the US president and his team are specifically dedicated to this purpose: to find a long-term settlement that addresses the root causes of this crisis."
Lavrov explained that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkopf, during their recent meeting, resolved all misunderstandings between Russia and the United States that arose after talks stalled following the Alaska summit.
