Russia will resume commercial flights to Syria, Germany, Venezuela, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka from April 1, the country’s official coronavirus task force said on Thursday.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced the decision based on an agreement with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, taking into account the current epidemiological situation in the country.

Russia suspended international flights in March last year at the start of the pandemic; however, it has resumed a selected number of routes.

Since last August, Russia began resuming flights to other countries such as Turkey, Tanzania, Switzerland, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Serbia, South Korea, Japan, Ethiopia, Finland, Vietnam, India, Qatar, Cuba, Seychelles and the Malpes.

Notably, the country has recorded 4,492,692 cases of coronavirus and 96,612 deaths, according to the national coronavirus information center.
