Russian Ambassador to Ivory Coast is currently held by Aleksei Saltykov stated that Moscow is actively working to reopen an embassy in Burkina Faso.

The reopening aligns with Russia’s and this is in line with Moscow's strategic path, according to Sputnik.

Saltykov pointed out that resuming the activities of the embassy in Ouagadougou is under work, adding that this step comes within the framework of Russia's objectives to develop relations with the countries of the continent.

The ambassador noted that in 1992 Russia made a rather difficult decision to close its diplomatic mission in Burkina Faso due to financial circumstances.

"Since the beginning of the year, it was agreed to maintain bilateral diplomatic relations between Russia and Burkina Faso, and the Russian embassy in Abidjan was accredited.”
