Yuri Borisov, the Director-General of the Russian space agency Roscosmos, announced on Monday that the agency is planning to launch more than 40 Russian rockets into space in 2024, according to the German news agency.

In an interview with the online news portal Pro Cosmos, Borisov responded to a question about the agency's launch plans for 2024 by stating, "More than 40."

He noted that "plans always remain plans" as last year's launch program was not fully executed, and efforts are being made to avoid any delays in the 2024 launches.

Borisov also mentioned that Moscow is "conducting negotiations with our colleagues at NASA," indicating that "even if we part ways in the field of manned space navigation, cooperation regarding the safety of space activities will continue."

In 2023, Russia conducted 19 space rocket launches, compared to 22 launches in 2022, 25 in 2021, and only 17 in 2020.

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko previously stated that 18 rocket launches are scheduled for 2024 to replenish the satellite group of the space forces. Last year, the Defense Ministry conducted seven launches.

According to data published on the Roscosmos website, the last time Russia executed more than 40 launches was in 1994, with a total of 49 launches that year.
