Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, has announced that preparations are underway for the launch of two Progress cargo ships to the International Space Station (ISS).
According to a statement from Roscosmos, the latest cargo vessel, Progress MS-30, has arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome and is currently stationed at the assembly and testing facility in preparation for its upcoming mission.
The agency outlined that Progress MS-30 is scheduled to launch in February 2025 from Baikonur aboard a Russian rocket.
Before that, another cargo ship, Progress MS-29, will be sent to the ISS in November 2024, carrying essential supplies and equipment for the astronauts aboard the station.
Back in August, Roscosmos successfully launched the Progress MS-28 vessel, which delivered over 2.6 tons of supplies, including scientific equipment, food, clothing, medical items, and 420 kg of drinking water.
The shipment also included 950 kg of fuel and 50 kg of nitrogen for the station’s astronauts.
Progress MS cargo ships are specially designed by Russia to resupply the ISS with essential goods, such as scientific instruments, water, oxygen, and food.
Additionally, the spacecraft’s engines can be used to adjust the station’s orbit when needed, ensuring the ISS remains in its correct trajectory.
