Russia announced today, Friday, that it had thwarted a terrorist attack in the west of the country, in which the Syrian group of “Tahrir Al-Sham" was involved.
The Russian Federal Security Service manifested that it arrested a person linked to Tahrir Al-Sham, who was planning a terrorist operation in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan.
The detained suspect is a young Russian man, born in 1995, who was preparing to launch an armed attack on security officers.
The security added in a statement that firearms and components of a homemade bomb were seized in the man’s hideout.
Moreover, the correspondence on his devices revealed that he was receiving the necessary instructions from followers of the group from outside Russia.
In turn, the accused confessed to planning the attack, saying in answer to the security man's question, according to what was reported by official local agencies, "In this place, I should have brought a weapon and an explosive device to blow up people."
Earlier, the Federal Security Agency reported that it had foiled a terrorist attack in which a 17-year-old teenager was planning in Tambov.
It is noteworthy that Moscow has always considered Tahrir Al-Sham in Syria a terrorist organization, and has repeatedly called on Turkey to resolve its issue in Idlib and its countryside.
