Russia has successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying two satellites from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed on Saturday.
According to the ministry’s statement, the rocket deployed a military satellite as well as the educational and research satellite Mozhaets-6. The Mozhaets-6 satellite was designed by a student from the A. F. Mozhaisky Military Space Academy and will be used to test advanced space navigation algorithms.
The launch marks another step in Russia’s growing military and scientific presence in space. In May, the Ministry of Defiance announced a similar Soyuz-2.1b launch from Plesetsk, which successfully placed another military satellite into orbit.
With the deployment of Mozhaets-6, Russia continues to highlight the integration of academic innovation into its space program, combining military objectives with scientific and educational research.
