The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it started the final stage of the Coronavirus vaccine clinical trials, which is run by the Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense.
These trials began on June 18 when nine volunteers – the first group- received one component of the vaccine, later 9 others - the second group- received one component of the vaccine as well , on June 23, the vaccine was given to 20 other volunteers who will receive booster scheme of the vaccination- they will be injected with the second component of the vaccine.
"On Monday, July 13, the second group of volunteers, who are tested for the efficiency and immunogenicity of the vaccine, will be injected with the second component of the vaccine against the coronavirus," the ministry stated.
"The booster scheme of the vaccination, which is intended for the second group of volunteers, will enable to strengthen the immune system and will also prolong its endurance," according to the ministry.
It is worth mentioning that, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.
