Russia has announced its readiness to help Iran meet its pharmaceutical and medical equipment needs in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

This came during a meeting between Head of Russia's consumer protection agency Anna Popova and Iran's Ambassador in Moscow Kazem Jalali.

Popova said, “We are standing alongside the Iranian people in combating Coronavirus."

On his part, Jalali valued her remarks as well as Russian president's expression of readiness during talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for helping Iran in countering the dreaded virus.

Moreover, both officials exchanged views on the measures taken by the two countries in the context of containing and controlling the virus.

Britain, Germany and France have offered a 5 million-euro ($5.6 million) package to Iran to help fight coronavirus in the country, Britain’s Foreign Office said in an official statement on Monday.

The so-called E3 group would provide the support through the World Health Organization (WHO) or other UN agencies, according to the statement.

It is worth mentioning, the epidemic has killed over 3,000 people worldwide, with the vast majority in mainland China and infected 90,000 globally.

Last week, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Iraq reported their first cases of the virus, meanwhile, the other Arab countries reported many cases over the last few days.

Several countries issued a travel ban on Iran to contain the outbreak.

China is trying with all its might to confront the effects resulting from the outbreak of the new Coronavirus, via a series of strong and effective measures that seek to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by this deadly virus.
