Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko announced on Sunday that Russia is ready to assist Egypt in resolving the Suez Canal blockage.

In press statements, the ambassador pointed out that Russia is very concerned about the latest events in the Suez Canal, which is one of the most vital waterways in the world.

On Saturday, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said that about 321 ships are waiting to cross the canal after the giant ship blocked their path.

In a press conference, Rabie stressed that the stranded ship has caused no injuries or pollution.

Moreover, the SCA Chairman explained that drilling operations have been expanded around the giant container vessel to help in the re-floating, indicating that it is ‘a complex and not easy process.’

He also stressed that major rescue companies are taking part in the re-flotation attempt. He pointed out that several countries have offered assistance, stressing that SCA is studying their engagement as an alternative plan.
